License Plates
As a member of the EU, Austria's license plates feature a blue band on the left side of the plate with the EU circle of stars and the country code A. Plates are white with black text, and a red-white-red triband (the Austrian flag's colors) on the top and bottom of the license plate: AAB ∇ 12CD. The first one or two letters represent the district of registration, and is followed by the coat of arms of the respective state (represented by a ∇ above).
Phone Codes
Austrian phone codes mostly follow the state borders, with some exceptions. Phone numbers are prefixed with a zero (0):

- Niederösterreich, Burgenland (northern half)
- Steiermark, Burgenland (southern half)
- Kärnten, Osttirol (eastern exclave of Tirol)
